Supplier Quality: Senior Supplier Quality Engineer – Metal Stampings
Primary focus will be on supplier relationships which impact Cost of Quality (COQ) to GE. Measure, prevent, react and enforce processes and procedures to manage and improve suppliers proactively and reactively. This includes initial selection and qualification of suppliers, new product introduction, continuous improvement and development throughout the life-cycle of the supplier, cross-functional support for all related New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and triage of issues to permanent solutions.
What you will Do
Own all aspects of quality engineering and project management for suppliers of assigned commodity. This includes qualification of suppliers, continuous ownership and development throughout the life-cycle of the supplier.
Utilize technical expertise in assigned commodity design and manufacturing equipment to work with suppliers in developing optimal product designs and manufacturing processes.
Lead part qualification including the 9-step process, Lean/Six Sigma tools, APQP and PPAP. Partner with Technology to identify, understand and abate issues for NPI and C changes.
Conduct Critical Part Risk Reviews related to system performance, reliability or quality.
Lead projects involving supplier moves, process and material changes. Support design change projects.
Champion the use of quality tools, Supplier Composite Scorecard and other data to identify and drive quality projects across all suppliers resulting in the overall improvement of supplier value to GEA (Delivery, quality, cost)
Monitor and resolve supplier process control performance issues by developing robust quality control plans and implementing sustainable corrective actions
Drive permanent resolution of manufacturing issues and consumer issues caused by supplier defects.
Lead Supplier Quality initiatives, and develop activities to fix-or-exit problematic suppliers by implementing robust corrective actions or qualifying alternate suppliers.
Lead problem definition and reactive problem solving through containment, identification of root cause and corrective action with SCAR.
Lead business and technical surveys with Sourcing and Technology teams to access supplier capabilities and make business recommendations for strategic/tactical supplier development and evaluation of new suppliers for NPI.
Perform annual audits to monitor supplier QMS (Quality Management System) compliance and effectiveness.
Identify areas for cost reduction across assigned supplier base including internal supplier process, quality improvements, Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) and material usage.
Manage supplier certification process and lead all functional participation for supplier launch of new products (NPI).
Train existing and new suppliers on Haier Group Quality systems and procedures to support NPI.
What you need to Succeed
Engineering or Technical degree (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience
Minimum 5 years Supply Chain, Quality and/or Technical experience in manufacturing environment
Strong background in applying statistical tools for process and product development and control (i.e. Gage R&R, Process Capability, Control Plans, SPC, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOEs)).
Skilled and experienced with reading and understanding prints, dimensions and tolerances.
Experienced with problem solving tools and techniques (i.e. 8-D, 5 Whys, 7 Ways, DOE, eCAR, Fishbone, Pareto, Six Sigma, First Piece, PPAP).
Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Fluent Computer skills
Demonstrated leadership to influence and drive change within a highly matrixed organization.
Experience with metals manufacturing processes such as stamping, casting, roll forming and extrusion
Demonstrated ability to independently develop, manage and implement aggressive project plans both globally and domestically
Demonstrated ability to simplify complex information and prepare concise executive summaries
Prior international work experience & multi-lingual (Chinese, Spanish, etc.)
Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing experience
Six Sigma certified (Green Belt, Black Belt or Master Black Belt)
GEA training program graduate (OMLP, TLP, EEDP)
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (20%)
